Today Savannah is a busy sea port on the Savannah river. It is the 4th busiest port in America, home to the Gulfstream Aerospace company, and has a paper mill that was once the largest in the world.
The city was founded 12 February 1733 by General James Oglethorpe, and was the first colonial capital of the Province of Georgia. |
