Lieutenant General Nathan Beford Forrest, of Angerona Lodge No. 168, Memphis, Tennessee was a legendary cavalry commander and considered by historian Shelby foot as one of the two great geniuses of the civil war. Although Forrest lacked formal military education, he had a gift for strategy and tactics. He created and established new doctrines for mobile forces, earning him the nickname The Wizard of the Saddle.
