Confederate General Henry Heth
(of Rocky Mountain Lodge #205 Utah territory).
To him goes the dubious honour of having inadvertently started the battle of Gettysburg when he sent some of his troops of the Army of Northern Virginia to the small Pennsylvania village, according to his memoirs, to get some shoes. In fact he sent two brigades and they made contact with the Union cavalry under Brig. Gen. John Buford.  The ensuing conflict resulted in the union forces taking the high ground that ran from the cemetery to  big round top., giving the union forces a distinct advantage. After the war, Heth worked in the insurance business and later served the government as a surveyor and in the Office of Indian Affairs.
