- Whilst Commonly referred to as "the Confederate Flag“, neither the oblong or square variants of the Confederate Army battle flag was ever used, on its own to represent the C.S.A.
- Also known as the "rebel", or “Dixie” flag.
- Designed by William Porcher Miles, 36th Mayor of Charleston, South Carolina
- His flag is often incorrectly referred to as the "Stars and Bars"
