  • A rectangular variant of the square Confederate Army battle flag.
  • Used by a few Army units, such as the Army of Tennessee.
  • Whilst Commonly referred to as "the Confederate Flag“, neither the oblong or square variants of the Confederate Army battle flag was ever used, on its own to represent the C.S.A.
  • Also known as the "rebel", or “Dixie” flag.
  • Designed by William Porcher Miles, 36th Mayor of Charleston, South Carolina
  • His flag is often incorrectly referred to as the "Stars and Bars"
