The format of the front of the circular being different from grand lodge certificate I decided to use only a portion of the certificate, here shown highlighted.

Three elements of this image are geometric in nature, the floor, the column, and the equilateral triangle and would be best reproduced using a line drawing programme, in this case CorelDRAW.

This section of the scanned certicate was imported into CorelDraw and the pillar redrawn by drawing over the original scan.  The equilateral triangle and floor were simply redrawn.  The resultant image was saved, opened in Corel PhotoPaint and saved as a jpeg image.

I was now ready to open the image in  Adobe Photoshop....
